s.calate - defining new levels of technology

infrastructure services

Once overlooked, undervalued and perceived as "low tech" - voice and data infrastructure and cabling is now highly regarded as critical to corporate technology solutions.

facilities assessments

Infrastructure planning is a complex discipline that requires both construction and technology experience. s.calate consultants are technology infrastructure and construction management savvy. Our extensive and successful history of design and implementation management, and procurement is well documented in client success stories. We help clients address all important infrastructure issues including:

  • Conduits and Pathways:  Solid planning and anticipation of needs are crucial to the physical support structure for voice and data cabling. s.calate consultants provide planning tools that ensure sufficient capacity to support copper and optical fiber communications cabling systems; and precise coordination among project architects, electrical, mechanical and structural engineers.
  • Voice and Data Cabling:  Voice and data cabling (communications cabling) has morphed into a "technology solution" unto itself. Thoughtful and strategic cable design ensures network operational capability, capacity and speed requisite to current and long-term infrastructure needs. s.calate consultants are active members in Building Industries Consulting Services International (BICSI), the organization that creates and monitors communication cabling standards.
  • Data Centers and Computer/Server Rooms:  Solid planning and anticipation of needs are crucial to the physical support structure for voice and data cabling. s.calate consultants provide planning tools that ensure sufficient capacity to support copper and optical fiber communications cabling systems; and precise coordination among project architects, electrical, mechanical and structural engineers.
  • Technology Rooms/Special Areas:  In addition to telecommunications rooms, computer/server rooms and data centers that support technology systems, there are many other areas that may require specialized technology design. These include training rooms, laboratories, clean rooms, demonstration centers, libraries, hoteling areas, board rooms and conference rooms. s.calate has the expertise to design specialized spaces with integrated solutions for specialized technologies including videoconferencing, audioconferencing, voice/data cabling, and wireless voice/data.
  • Construction Management:  Designing the infrastructure and selecting the communications cabling contractor is a significant task. Upon completion, close coordination and oversight of build-outs is mandatory. s.calate provides day-to-day management of the technology construction phase. Since technology infrastructure and systems are integral to the move process, technology spaces typically require escalated construction time lines. Precise coordination ensures that spaces are completed in a timely fashion that allows for system testing prior to occupancy.

relocation services

Relocating a business can be daunting. It is a complex process requiring the attention of many internal departments as well as contract staff. The relocation of technical systems, PCs, servers and network equipment is often left as a "last-minute" task, resulting in misplaced inventory, connectivity problems, and operational downtime at the new location. s.calate assists clients in coordinating the move of technology equipment and services. s.calate provides many value-added services.

  • Equipment Inventories:  An equipment inventory is a vital tracking tool for relocating corporate assets to new facilities. Inventory documentation identifies existing equipment, serial numbers, users and locations, and is critical to defining the correlation between the existing site and the new facility.
  • Desktop Relocation:  s.calate has refined "the art of desktop relocation". We will coordinate a "to/from" schedule for identification of PCs, monitors, keyboards and other computer-related hardware. And we work hand-in-glove with our client's moving company to coordinate move schedules and other related tasks. On move day we disconnect all desktop computer systems and tag them accordingly. Items such as cables, keyboards and mouses are placed in anti-static protective bags. At the new facility we re-connect the computer system, ensure proper functionality and validate "network connectivity".
  • Equipment/Server Room:  The relocation of computer room equipment can be a monumental task. This is the most critical aspect of relocation services. The equipment requires special handling and timing in order to minimize service outages. s.calate carefully plans and coordinates critical system shut down and relocation to minimize service disruptions during the move. s.calate also provides relocation services for specialized technology systems associated with customized areas such as boardrooms, laboratories, training and customer service areas.
  • Networks:  Ordering telephone and data services can be a management nightmare. Coordination with local and competitive phone companies, long-distance providers and high-speed data and Internet carriers is time-consuming, tedious and cumbersome. s.calate can take full responsibility for ordering and installing circuits to support client networks.
